| Gentlemen, if I may.... In Administrative Tools\Disk Manager\Drive Properties\Tools\Error Checking\Check Now, the Automatic repair for files...etc is ALWAYS check ON and not by user input. Unchecking and closing follow by reopening shows it again to be check on. Does this have anything to do with Vista SP1 chkntfs.exe default (/D) being "look always for a dirty drive and run chkdsk.exe if so"? | Thanks Mr. Brink for the return Followed your instructions and the registry entry is exactly as you said. So I assume it is the default, thus correct? Thanks again, Cheers -- Dr. Rolando E Creagh Perfection can be the enemy of good "Brink" <Brink.37fwu1@no-mx.forums.net> wrote in message news:Brink.37fwu1@no-mx.forums.net... Quote:

| Well, sorry but I am curious. I check same key in 2 XP computers and the entry is the same, yet their check box is always open. Yes, that is the default setting for that. Try resetting the drives back to default by doing only steps 1 to 5A (not 5B) and steps 8 and 9 in METHOD THREE. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67...sk-chkdsk.html Shawn -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*VISTA FORUMS*' (http://www.vistax64.com) *Please post feedback to help others.* | Guest

| Ok, followed your instruction. Is the check mark in Drive Properties\Tools\Repair files suppose to disappear? It is still there. Would this be considered otherwise as "a pending command, if"? by default after you click "Check Now", so I would not worry about that as long as it's not running chkdsk everytime you start the computer.
