Default corrupted registry, user account therefore not working

Hello everyone,

I have got a serious problem concerning my user profile.
yesterday I shut down my laptop as usual and when I
switched it on this morning I clicked on my user profile
and XP would not load it.
The explanation I received was that it cannot read/write
in my registry and that it might be corrupted...

I have never heard of such a problem and none of my
friends and aquaintances either!

please help me, I would appreciate your support very
much. If you need further information about the message
windows sent, I will provide it to you.

thank you,
yours DAN

Dan, if you have a WinXP CD then do a Repair Install.

The registry is a datbase-type file that contains a lot of important
information about programs and users. If the registry is corrupt (and that
does happen), the PC may refuse to boot into XP. This was also true of
Windows 95, 98, ME, etc.

Experienced users get a registry backup/restore program, such as ERUNT,
whihc is free, or others that cost a few bucks. (Define experienced =
burned once by windows.)

But, know that there is a backup copy of the registry hidden on the
computer. To perform a manual restroe of this copy, read the following MS
article 307545:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;307545
BUT, first consider something less dramatic, such as the "last know good"
option, whihc usually is available unpon booting. You might have to hit F6
or similar to get a more complete list of boot options.
