Could you please reopen RC2 for download?

Posted: 10-10-2006, 05:28 PM
I figured that instead of the rants I would try to approach this as a
courtesy request.

MS folks, would you kindly reopen the RC2 download please? It would be nice
for those using the RC1 to benefit from the fixes incorporated in RC2. I can
see the rationale for limiting the number of migrants from RC1 such as bug
count tracking, but on the other hand, there are alternative methods to
extend the usefulness of data collected without encumbering the participants.

The positive interest and support generated for Vista is fabulous. It seems
unfortunate to temper it with any ill feeling with the limited nature of
major builds. I notice that RC1 CPP is still available. That can potentially
increase the misunderstanding and frustration of the early adopters.

Regards,
Eager, Waiting, and Otherwise Happy

You need to send your request to LHhelp@microsoft.com since this is a
public, self-help newsgroup and not a managed newsgroup closely monitored by
MS personnel.

RC2 did not have the testing that RC1 had, so was limited.. I dount MS
will re-open it, they have their 100,000 allocation of activations.

RC1 does me no good if there are no further updates available to me. The
hassles are just not worth it. I am going back to a fully functional XP Pro.

RC2 isn't really going to fix anything... in fact, RC1 is more stable and
supports more than RC2. RC2 is a interm build, some fixes but it didn't go
through the bug testing RC1 did.

I'll disagree with you on one aspect. For me RC 2 is more stable than RC
1 - at least on my hardware.
