Crash Recovery: Power Outage Problem!

Posted: 10-26-2003, 04:07 PM
I had a power outage last night which turned off my
computer. When I turned it on it came to the scan disk
screen where it verifies all the files and check if there
any errors (I'm using XP). It found a lot of errors /w
many directories and automatically converted some folders
into files. When look for these folders in Windows
Explorer I can't access them now that they were converted
to files. How do I change this back? I can't get system
restore to work now that this happened.

Hi Josh,

Usually, you can't. Once the damage is done, it's done. To prevent these
incidents in the future, you might consider investing in a UPS unit. For
System Restore, you should disable it, reboot, and reenable it. It will lose
all existing restore points, but at least it will be working again.
