CRCDISK.SYS (on Toshiba Tectra A4)

I've gone back to about 25-6-06 and found a few postings about PC's/laptops
hanging on bootup on/after 'crcdisk.sys'.......but no solutions.

Have tried restarting in safe mode, plus all the other options....

Have tried the 'repair' rom the installation CD, but all the report shows is:
Root cause found: Failure while setup is in progress.

Has anyone got any further with this please?
