Default Create a shortcut to change user

I want to know if it's possible to create a shortcut on the desktop that
changes the user(account). We have two users(accounts) on the computer and
often jumps between them.

Hi Fubbick,

This will show you how to create a Lock computer desktop shortcut. From
within the Lock screen, you can click the red box arrow and click
"Switch User".

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70...-computer.html

It's about the same as clicking "Switch User" from the Start menu, but
at least this way you can lock the computer until you switch user.

Hope this helps some,
Shawn

Hi Shawn

You can use the following to create a shortcut that will take you directly
to the log in screen where you can select another account to switch users,
without the need to click another switch user button. You might want to add
this to that tutorial page.

C:\Windows\System32\tsdiscon.exe

Hi Ronnie,

Thank you. I created a new tutorial for this and added a link to it.
See the "Credit To" at the top.

Hi Ronnie/Brink,

I have checked my System32 folder and there is NO mention of this file,
'tsdiscon.exe'. I am using the 32-bit version of Windows Vista Home Premium,
Version 6.0 (Build 6000). Is this file only available in certain versions of
Vista or is it part of SP1 (which I intend to install when it becomes
available on Windows Update)?

Hi Ronnie,

Are you running the SP1 version of Home Premium? As stated in my previous
post, I do not currently have SP1. If this file is only available after the
installation of SP1, then it would explain why I couldn't find it on my
system.

Hi Dwarf

I think this file should be on Vista HP by default? I remember using this
switch user shortcut prior to SP1 being installed on any of my test systems.

I'm doing some more checking now.

I checked through the web and the file "C:\Windows\Syte
32\tsdiscon.exe" should be there by default in Vista before or afte
SP1. I found links with it included as far back as Windows 2000

You might try running a "sfc /scannow" (no quotes) command to see if i
can replace that system file for you. This will show you how if needed
