I'm not optimistic this will work but it's worth a shot. Try using System
Restore to take you back to a time prior to when you did this. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.

Another possibility. I'm assuming "Default User" was created by you or
whoever set upt the system. If that's the case, turn the default user into
an administrator and create a new default user as a limited account. You
will have to change the name of the original default user account.

Default Re: Default Profile

I have thought of both of these fixes.
re: System restore. I can try this, but how do I know if
I have been successful? This is the big issue! Since
high school students will be "pulling" this default user,
it is IMPERATIVE that they do NOT have sny lingering
admin privileges.

re: creating a new default user
I do have a "clean default" user that I can copy from
another computer. We have heard, however, that elements
of administrative access remain (possibly in the
registry) and that even if we provide a completely new
default user, these admin privileges may linger.
Again,is there a way to confirm that the new default user
will be TOTALLY a limited account?

In Microsoft Knowledge Base article 319974
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;319974 the following warning is noted but there is
no further explanation.

"Caution You will cause permissions issues if you create
the custom user profile when you are logged on as the
administrator"

Thx.
S.

I see your point and I'm backing away. While you could test some
Administrator functions in the account, there would be no way to be sure
there aren't at least some lingering privileges.
