Deleting 0 byte files

Posted: 12-12-2007, 12:43 AM
I have a couple files with 0 bytes. Windows will not let me delete them. It
keeps telling me they are not there. But they keep showing up as 0 bytes. Any
help?

Hi, Kevin.

Unless there's something secret about them, please tell us the filenames,
including the full pathnames.

Run chkdsk /f or use the Check now option from computer / drive properties /
tools. The fact that Windows reports the files not there, as contrasted to
locked or open, indicates a file system problem.

I have the same problem, I just ran the chkdsk as suggested, didn't
work, still can't delete/open/rename the file, it says it's not there

A chap here had the same issue a couple of weeks ago.
He opened a dos session, running as administrator, pointed to the
appropriate folder
and deleted the offending article from there.
Hope this helps

that was easy, the pesky file deleted from a DOS window, thanks for the
idea!

unreal, it was driving me nuts, the file was in a folder created by a
program so I couldn't delete/move even the folder, plus I often look in
the folder, so hated seeing that file in there, thanks again!
