Right click on the Desktop, select View and "Classic Icons" - I believe that
should set them back to 32x32. Not sure if this only applies with Aero Glass
turned off... but if the "Classic Icons" doesn't come up, select "Small
Icons".

No, they updated it in 5308, you are not gonna see it in 5112.

I want to know why you can't change the icon style - in Windows Explorer you
can change the icon style to list, thumbnail, icons, tiles, etc - but on the
desktop you only have the one icon sytle...

maybe I want my icons on the desktop to be tiles, or list icons, etc...

And maybe I want my desktop icons to group along the top, or bottom, or
right side instead of left, or around the edge so they don't occult the
wallpaper, and there's no way to do that except manually and that's been
getting my goat ever since Win95. Come on, Microsoft, it shouldn't be *that*
difficult to allow users easy control over their desktops!

So true Pierre - when you think about it, the desktop is just another
directory on the computer like all the others, C:\Documents and
Settings\Chris\Desktop, for example. I always why when I customize that
directory in the Explorer window, why the changes didn't replicate on the
desktop itself.

And be careful with those goats and the occult Pierre...

<lol>
Actually the desktop isn't "just a directory" as far as Explorer (or
whatever name the user shell has in Vista) is concerned: all accesses to it
are filtered through a specific DLL. Bloated as Vista already is (when
compared to XP), it shouldn't make a lot of difference to expand that DLL to
handle additional customizations.

Is there a way to vary the size of the desktop icons? I find them to be
relatively large and decreasing the size to about 1/2 of the existing would
be much better.

Hello

- right-click on an empty part of your desktop
- click View
- select the size you want

Or, for extreme control, press and hold down the CTRL button while you spin
your mouse scroll wheel (the scrolly thing in between the two buttons of the
mouse - if you have one).

- JB
