You cannot get rid of the box .. However .. The 'blue
square' around your desktop icons is based on
the "Appearance" settings (colors) in your Display
Properties (Start / Settings / Control Panel / Display --
OR-- right (alternate)-click on your desktop area and
choose Properties). Hit the Appearance tab, then the
Advanced button. The default Item chosen is usually
Desktop, if not just choose it from the drop down box.
Choose a color more appropriate for your background
(preferably one that blends in??).
