Desktop icons - Out of Control!

My desktop icons are out of control. I simply want to be
able to place my icons in specific places on the desktop.
I want the icons to stay where I put them. Right now, if
I just close the lid to my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8500),
and open it back up, all of the icons have been
rearranged. Very strange.

I have already played with all of the options available
when you right click on the desktop and select Arrange
Icons By. I had no luck with any of that.

What else can I try?

Save Settings on Exit (Line 54)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

I've seen a freeware utility called wintidy.zip recommended for this
purpose.
