Device driver causing frequent crashes

Posted: 01-18-2004, 05:31 PM
Hi,

I'm a simple-minded computer user, and a recent defector
from the Macintosh world. I have a VPRmatrix pentium 4
laptop. I don't have any fancy equipment or software. I
use an old HP 930 deskjet, have a canon digital camera,
and a sony clie PEG-SL10. I also have an external hard
drive (western) for backups. I routinely update my XP
with Microsoft's software patches.

My computer is crashing frequently, and Microsoft's
analysis always comes out the same way - unknown device
driver, they can't do anything about it! How insightful!
I'm really getting to the point of wishing I were using
the Mac again. I'm just too poor to afford a Mac (this
laptop cost me $900, and that was tough!)

I was wondering if one of you experts would be able to
tell me how to find the offending driver and purge it
from my system.

Please contact me at a.kahana@hosp.wisc.edu with any
suggestions.

Thanks. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Alon
