Device Manager Displays Error Code 10 for PCMCIA Network Adapter

I am having exactly the problem described

but in Windows xp
The fix in Windows 98 does not apply or I do not know how
to do it
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

Error 10 simply means that the driver failed to start.
Usually driver leaves some message in the eventlog that can explain what it didn't like.
Please check the eventlog.
