Device Manager screen goes blank

Most likely you have some third-party customization in your Control Panel
that isn't compatible with XPsp3.

Just to be clear about your symptom. Does it still occur if you open Device
Manager
directly? (E.g. use Run... devmgmt.msc )

FWIW what I would try to do is run ProcMon to get some clues about
what is loading when you try that.

Alternatively see if you can avoid the symptom by booting in VGA mode.
E.g. find a boot choice which shows /basevideo in its OS Load Options
(as shown by bootcfg). Or make one which does that using that tool. ; )

BTW MUC is not the best newsgroup to try to diagnose such symptoms in. ; )

I understand that how frustrated u are with this issue. It should no
happen like this. where did u download the SP3 for xp. That setup migh
be having a problem. You might have downloaded from a wrong or untruste
site.

But not an issue, You can uninstall the SP3 and come back to SP2 (i
you upgrade from SP2).
To uninstall SP3:
1. Go to Add and remove programs which is in control panel.
2. there u can find Windows xp profession SP3.
3. click on remove.
Then SP3 will be removed from ur system.

Now u can download and install the windows Xp SP3 from Microsoft site
