diabled icon in lower right part of taskbar

Posted: 07-13-2003, 02:48 PM
I recently bought a new computer. It came with two network slots. One is
built into the motherboard and the other is on a separate card. I am using
the separate card and it connects just fine. The problem is that the
onboard slot is displayed in the lower right part of the taskbar with a red
X through it to indicate that Local Area Connection 2 is unplugged. I know
it is and it is going to stay that way since I am going to continue to use
the other network slot.

My question is, Is there a way to keep this "error message" from being
displayed? If I double click the icon, it opens a dialog box for Network
Connections. If I go to the one that is unplugged and right click it, I
could choose to disable it or to remove it from the bridge. Should I try
one of these?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Steve,

Control Panel/system/hardware tab/device manager, expand the network adapter
branch, click on the unused connector, then on action/disable.
