Dial up connection

Posted: 07-02-2003, 11:59 PM
I can not get my computer to take a dial up connection. I
had to reinstall Win XP and now it acts as if I have a
broadband connection. When using the Internet Wizard I get
so far and then it will make some reference to Remote
Assistance. I know my modem is working because I tested it
using Hyper Terminal. How can I get rid of this remote
assistance so I can readd my dial up connection?

Is your modem your default internet connection?
In internet explorer is 'Always dial my default connection' select?

It sounds like your modem is not being detected.. ensure that you have XP
drivers installed, and that your modem is showing in Control Panel..

And good luck searching through the many newsgroups in which you posted this
query for an answer that works.. lol
