| I am using a Belkin 1500VA UPS on my computer. The Belkin is set to shutdown the computer in 20 minutes after power failure. However, the power plan on windows vista 32 bit is taking over and it shuts down the computer after 3 minutes. Is there anyway to fix this? Is it possible to disable vista's power plan so the Belkin UPS can do it's thing? | Guest

| Please believe me - I am not trying to be sarcastic - but why is there a "Power Options" available in Control Panel? Do the following: Start>Control Panel>Power options>Under whatever plan is active click "Change plan settings">"Change advanced power settings "and click away. | No Sarcasm taken! I have done all of that and for some reason, vista has taken over my UPS. I have basically got the UPS to now stay on for at least 20 minutes but it insists that it must "Sleep" after that. I have shut off every option that the vista power options have and it still goes to sleep. The Belkin software is loaded and it's not what is putting my computer to sleep. The UPS still has over 65% battery power left, so it's not as though the UPS is out of juice. It has got to be vista doing it. I'll fool with it some more and hopefully this sleep problem will be found. Thanks for all of the reply's and help guys. I appreciate it!! "AJR" wrote: Quote:

| there is a service for power options, do not know its name, but a scan of the services might show it up. STOP it and then change it to disabled and see if the situation improves. 65% power left when running normally is not good. mikeyhsd@comcast.net "5 ACES" <5ACES@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:ED74FA54-B5E3-408E-BC41-FEB74F698EF4@microsoft.com... | Thanks mikeyhsd! What I ment to say was that after 20 minutes on battery backup, it's at 65% battery life, which puzzled me as to why it would go to sleep. I did find an option in the power options that says: Critical battery power: Sleep / Shutdown. No other option but those two and it was set on sleep. I'm thinking that's what is doing the sleep thing. All of the other battery options have a "DO NOTHING" option but the critical battery option does not give you that choice. It's either sleep or shutdown, so hopefully if it's that, then I have some idea as to what is causing this problem. "mikeyhsd" wrote: Quote:
