disable raid?

I have a dimension e520 that came with one 300 gig hard drive with raid
enabled. If I disable raid in the bios will I it screw up my current vista
installation? I would like to add another hard disk and I want to install
winxp on it and it won't do it unless I disable raid. I would like to remove
the vista hard drive and install winxp on the new one, then just choose
which hard drive to boot from from the bios screen. thanks for any help.
