Disappearing CD-ROMs

I think I have the same problem; I recently upgraded to
windows XP professional edition fropm windows ME and now
both my cd-rw drive and dvd-rom drives aren't being
detected. The drives also disappeared once when I had
windows ME, but I was able to restore the drives by using
system restore. However, system restore no longer restores
the drives in windows XP. I found the following website and
tried deleting some parts of the registry, but still no
luck. Maybe it'll help somebody else though:

Anybody able to resolve this problem? Any help appreciated!
