disc player port F and disc recorder port G inoperative

I have a new Sony PC and a moth ago everything was fine I
could record RW CD's with no trouble. Now both ports seem
dead. If I install a disc in either port it wont show up
in the Computer folder, and when I try to record on the
pre-installed VAIO media program a note appears to say
the disc isn't connected. Any Ideas? Everything else
seems normal, only these two ports are screwy. Thanks
