Default DNS issue

Trying to join a newly created domain name on windows 2003 from a
machine running windows xp but I get this error:
"Note: This information is intended for a network administrator. If
you are
not your network's administrator, notify the administrator that you
received
this information, which has been recorded in the file
C:\WINDOWS\debug\dcdiag.txt.

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service
location
(SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain
OWENTRIER.COM:

The error was: "DNS server failure."
(error code 0x0000232A RCODE_SERVER_FAILURE)

The query was for the SRV record for
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.OWENTRIER.COM

Common causes of this error include the following:

- The DNS servers used by this computer contain incorrect root hints.
This
computer is configured to use DNS servers with following IP addresses:

204.127.198.4
63.240.76.4

- One or more of the following zones contains incorrect delegation:

OWENTRIER.COM
COM
.. (the root zone)

For information about correcting this problem, click Help."

Any leads or help.
Thanks a lot

Make sure the client computer's DNS setting points to the DNS server of your
active directory and NOT to an external DNS server at your ISP. In fact, all
computers in the domain should point to your own DNS server.

Also, make sure your AD DNS server allows dynamic updates, and then try to
restart the netlogon service on the DC, which should update the required DNS
records on your DNS.

Default DNS Issue

After migrating from Windows NT to Server 2003, some
laptops on the network which are running WinXP
Professional give me these errors. The laptops generally
freeze up and have to be rebooted. They will authenticate
with profiles that authenticated before the migration. A
new user with profile on the server will not authenticate
on the laptops. Here are some of the errors.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: LSASRV
Event Category: SPNEGO (Negotiator)
Event ID: 40961
Date: 10/21/2003
Time: 2:25:19 PM
User: N/A
Computer: RHOFFMAN
Description:
The Security System could not establish a secured
connection with the server cifs/JOEY. No
authentication protocol was available.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: W32Time
Event Category: None
Event ID: 29
Date: 10/21/2003
Time: 2:24:58 PM
User: N/A
Computer: RHOFFMAN
Description:
The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire
time from one or more time sources, however none of
the sources are currently accessible. No attempt to
contact a source will be made for 14 minutes.
NtpClient has no source of accurate time.

Event ID: 1054
Source: Userenv
Type: Error
Description: Windows cannot obtain the domain controller
name for your computer network. (The specified domain
either does not exist or could not be contacted). Group
Policy processing aborted.

I have verified that the preferred DNS server settings on
the laptops are correct, I also turned off the auto
enrollment because I was getting Event ID 15.

TIA,
Joe
