Do I Need Two Burners?

Posted: 09-26-2003, 09:02 PM
I currently have two disc drives; a dvd-rom which came with
my Gateway computer and a Plextor cd burner (PlexWriter
24/10/40A) which I've installed myself.

I'm planning on buying a dvd burner (Sony DRU-510A).

Should I keep the Plextor along with the new Sony?

Since the Sony burns both dvd's & cd's, is it beneficial
to have two burner drives?

Also, if I don't need the Plextor, I'd have a free drive
bay.

Any suggestions on what if anything to put there?

I have a 15g iPod. Wouldn't it be cool if I could somehow
utilize the bay with the iPod?

Thanks for any help!

I don't know about two burners, but I have a CDRW, A
DVDRW and a Plain DVD drive. This is handy for multiple
copying or direct copying of media. Obviosly you can't
use them at the same time though.

If you take one out, use the extra bay for one of those
all in one media readers like I did - Mine has built in
Compact flash, Memory Stick, Flash Card readers and a
Firewire port with two USB 2.0 ports. Really handy!
