If you have 2 or more harddisk partitions, sure you can have both Vista and
XP in a machine.

Either do a dual boot or single clean install. An upgrade resulted in a
system that was so unstable I could only get it to boot in safe mode.
That's my experience, but I have a logitech usb camera that evidently has no
drivers and incompatible software. Just my two cents.

How do i make a dual bot?
Is it only to install vista(clean version) on another partition?
And if i upgrade windows xp is my old windows xp still installed or will it
uninstall windows xp and install vista instead?

Thanks for all answers!
