Dot Matrix-XP spooler Problem(?)

I am running a Panasonic KX-P1524 that allows for Epson emulation. I set the
printer to emulate Epson's LQ-1500. Windows XP has this printer in the "Add
Printer Wizard", which used to set up my printer. It doesn't work. It
appears that there is a error with the print spooler because of a Win32
error code returned by the print processor. Any ideas on how to get past
this problem? I have tried stopping and restarting the print spooler and
that didn't help, neither did the generic 24 pin driver. Both caused the
same results.
