double click/single click problem

Posted: 10-06-2004, 02:47 AM
i dont know if i have a change of getting this asnwered
in a microsoft news group but i dont know where else to
trun.

Recntly Windows (xp) on my computer has been behaving
like a webpage so to speak in all applications and on
desktop, to clarify every mouse click on my computer is
now worth 2. Thus opening a file or folder requries only
one click, this would not be such a big problem, only
that every other single click button or function now
responds double ... or in some cases not at all, having
the 2 clicks cancel eachother out. This makes it almost
impossible to use my computer because i have serious
problems clicking anything because one click is now
double click.

I have recntly installed alot of new software on my
computer including a microsoft service pack (2) i'm not
sure exactly what triggered this change, and at first it
looks as if it maybe a properties or options problem but
having scoured my computer for days it appears to be much
deeper.

I have found a possilbe explanation on mircosoft support
but even with this no solution since they are refusing to
release a fix for this as it may be unstable. Anyway that
may not be my problem so i am askig if anyone has ever
heard of or experienced something like this, please help!!

Next time you are in Windows Explorer choose Tools>Folder Options>General
Tab>Make sure that double click is selected.
