download version 9 on media player

I am trying to download version 9 of the media player and
I keep getting the tag "not valid win32 application" I
have no idea what this means. I am extremely new at all of
this. What seems to be the problem. I just installed
aol9.0 optimized yesterday. Can you help me I am just
trying to get some music. Also on the 30 second sample it
only plays for about 4 seconds and then it turns off.
