Downloading music from Internet radio

Posted: 11-15-2004, 12:51 AM
I have Media Player 10 and would like to save to my harddrive music from
Internet radio stations, mainly opera arias. I've tried figuring out all the
confusing directions in Media Player Help but am not getting anywhere. Any
help from anyone? Perhaps even a recommended library book?

WMP is not going to suffice. You'll need some software that can record
streaming audio. Google will get you going there.

I have a similar problem. I have recording software installed and am able to
play locally stored .wav files using MS Medias Player and have them
successfuuly record. If I use the links in web pages to play streaming audio
files, even through MS Media Player, they don't record. I am trying to
record a concert my son played in on CBC 2 radio. I have verified my
settings and procedures with the recording software tech support. I was able
to do this successfully in March 2007 and nothing has changeds in my set up
that I know of. What should I be checking?

Use Audacity. What is your soundcard ?

As the recording option use " What you hear" (if your soundcard software has
that option) will do the trick.

I have a Soundblaster Live! card. I do not have a "what you hear" option, so
I use Wave file, which is what I had been using in the past when I
successfully recorded. Now, if I play a wave file stored locally on Media
Pplayer, it plays fine, the recording software's VU meters jump, and the
software records the sound. If I play a streaming audio file through Media
Player with the same settingsd, it still plays fine, but the VU meters are
dead and the sound doesn't record. The system as a whole is treating
streaming audio differently than wave files.

I have not intentionally cahnged anything since I laast successfully
recorded. Clearly something has changed siince I am getting different
results. I am looking for advice as to what to check to figure this out.

I had a Live! card and it had a What You Hear Option in the recording
section of the mixer. If I remember correctly : double clock on the
loudspeaker icone in the Systray > Properties > Record > OK > and tick it.

Cheers,
Jerry

Audigy 2zs has an app that records "What you hear;" hence, you should have
Windows sounds disabled.
Audacity (but there are many others) would record any sound that passes
through your audio card; albeit, you'll have to select manually the tunes.
