Driver for HPT370

Posted: 06-11-2006, 10:03 AM
I am trying to do a custom installation of Vista R2.

I have a mainboard with an HPT370 RAID controller chip which works fine for
XP and Server 2003 which the machine is currently running but no disks are
seen during the Vista installation. I have tried loading the latest driver
from http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA/bios_hpt370_370a.htm but it is not
recognising it.

Can anyone help please?

Hi Tim,

I also have a HPT 370 on my MB and Vista wont install either via upgrade or
clean. Vista setup refuses to see either the XP or Win2003 drivers on the
disk. Unfortunately, I think since it's been several years since High Point
has released a driver for this chipset, they have finished developing drivers
for it.

The only work around is going to be to move your hard drive to IDE 1 or 2.
You "may" be able to move the drive back to the RAID controller AFTER you get
Vista installed.

I haven't tried this yet but after considering solutions, it seems to be the
only way to get it to work.

Hi

I did get an upgrade from XP to work. I performed a clean install of XP SP1
and used the latest HighPoint driver. I then upgraded to SP2 and then
upgraded to Vista. I had further problems with network cards byut now have a
Vist PC on the net. Cheers for your reply though.

Hi Tim,

I was also able to upgrade after installing XP Pro with SP2 but I hope they
allow the XP HPT driver to work with Vista for final release if driver
development for that controller is over.

My VP6 has been a rock solid board and I still have no real reason to
upgrade hardware as it well exceeds Vista's system req's.
