Hello good people,
Got a problem I was hoping to get some tips on how to solve (even though I
still use Windows 98 not XP).
The other day I got one of those "WINWORD caused a general protection fault
in module HPFWIN13.DLL" messages (i.e. I could no longer print out any
worddocs) so I decided to uninstall my printer driver using the 'add/delete'
feature in the control panel. For some reason, nothing did uninstall (but
the 'printer' was no longer listed in 'add/delete'), so I started to
manually remove all the corresponding software (folders) I could find and
proceeded to downlown a new driver for my DeskJet712C from the HP website.
When I tried to install it gave me the following message half way thru the
process: "HP Deskjet710C Series software is currently installed on this PC.
To reinstall software you must first select uninstall, reboot the PC, and
then select reinstall again." Only I can't seem to find any more hidden
leftover componants from the old driver that are preventing the new one from
installing all the way.
Anybody have an idea what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to get rid of
these pesky leftovers and clean them out?
Muchas gracias for your help.
