I'm new to xp and set up a desk top for both myself and
my wife. How do I get newly installed software
shortcuts ,ie ms photo, on both desk tops? Thx for any
advice...

You don't always get a choice but if a program offers to install the
application for "All Users" it will place the icon into the All
Users\Desktop folder.

Open Windows Explorer and look in Documents and Settings\<your
account>\Desktop. Copy the MS Photo shortcut to ..\<wife's account>\Desktop
to add it to her desktop as well

Or copy it to ..\All Users\Desktop for it to show up on the desktop of any
user account on this system.

If your wife is unable to run the program from that shortcut, log on to her
account and run the MS Photo setup again. Install to the same folder. The
program will only exist in one location but she should now have access to
the program too.
