dumpchk.exe not as expected

Posted: 05-11-2005, 12:01 PM
I am on XP SP2 and I am trying to use dumpchk.exe to analyze some
kernel dump files. I got dumpchk with the Windows XP Service Pack 2
Support Tools (WindowsXP-KB838079-SupportTools-ENU.exe).

However, the version seems to be different from the one described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q315271

All I get with dumpchk -? is:
Usage: DumpCheck [y <sympath>] <Dumpfile>

The output looks also different. I am missing the ExceptionAddress row
as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;314084

Do I have a wrong version of dumpchk.exe? And what is the TRIAGE_DUMP32
section all about?

Here is an example of my output:

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump>dumpchk Mini051105-04.dmp
