change action when is application DVD/CD put to drive to "No action".
So,go to Control Panel and select Auto Play---->Software and Games,fro
drop down list select Take no Action or Ask me every tim

it is a laptop or desktop or anything else. If it is a desktop check the
cable connections for the dvd drive.

i have a asus commando board ,p4 2.8ghz, 2 gb ramdesktop, running windows vista home
tryed to change dvd drive does the same thing
the one i have on now is a hl-dt-st dvd-rom

Does the system POWER OFF when you push the Eject button on the DVD-ROM?If so, it may be an issue with a bad and/or under-powered Power Supply.
