I have a DVD player and CD burner and I too have recentlyadded a DVD burner.
The software that works the best are 321 Studios DVD X
Copy and B.H.A.'s B' Recorder Gold 5.
Solution 1: Make sure that you have the latest driver and
firmware for your DVD Burner.
Solution 2: Make sure that you have installed a DVD RAM
driver for your DVD Burner. Otherwuse WinXP won't know
how to use it as a DVD Burner.
BTW after I installed my burner WinXP also unchecked both
Burners as the default WinXP CD Burner. You might want to
check that too

There is a known restriction within xp that you can onlyhave one defined active burner at a time. check the
knowledge base for the article. i don't recall reading
anything about a (planned) fix.

Enable recording, if that choice is available.
