It's normal if your drive doesn't support that format. If you don't know
what formats your drive supports, go to the mfg site or google search for
it.

Yep. A DVD+R/RW drive will not write to (or read) DVD- media and vice versa.
This is why most new drives being produced are dual format. You can pick up
a dual format burner these days for under £100. It doesn't make any sense to
buy a single format drive anymore.

Yes. + drives will only read + disks. - drives will only
read - disks. +/- drives will read both.
