Default DVI and VGA for VISTA

x-no-archive: yes

I purchased a new computer to run with Vista. The video card uses DVI and
the monitor is VGA. Fortunately, the video card came with an adapter which
turns the DVI plug into VGA. My question is this: Am I loosing video speed
to run Aero well? Should I buy a digital cable, or am I OK with this
solution?

It won't make any difference to Aero itself or performance of the system.

However a digital cable and DVI on the monitor too (usually TFTs) should
result in a sharper image at higher resolutions, it's borderline noticeable
for me at 1600x1200 and very noticeable at 1920x1200.

It's really too subjective to call if you'd notice anything in every day
use. But yes in theory if you had digital all the way through you'd have a
better image.

I see. It's not a question of speed, but of sharper image at very high
resolution. Thanks!
