Default embedded pcl commands

Since upgrading a machine from Windows 98 to Windows XPP
SP1, we are unable to print text douments that have
embedded pcl commands in them.

Background:

We have a job on the mainframe that creates the text
document with embedded pcl commands. When the job is
printed to our HP 4000N printer directly from the
mainframe, the printer accepts the commands and formats
the document correctly. When the job is sent from the
mainframe to a Windows 98 machine and then printed to the
HP 4000N printer, the document is formatted correctly.
Since upgrading to a Windows XPP SP1 machine, when the
job is sent from the mainframe to the Windows XPP SP1
machine, it will not execute the embedded pcl commands.
Instead, it prints the commands as if they are text.

I have tried various drivers for the HP 4000N and still
receive the same results. I do not feel that it is the
printer or the drivers that are the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

thanks .. Tracy )
