Enabling Automatic Update tab in the system properties and enabling the service.

Posted: 08-24-2003, 11:43 PM
On my system, we have a corporate policy for not running
Automatic Updates, so the tab does not appear in the
system properties of control panel.I don't see the service
by name Automatic updates in the services mmc. I am
running Windows XP Professional with SP1.

So any suggestions on how to enable the tab in the system
properties and get the service back in the services mmc,
and get the service started.

Any help appreciated.

This is something that you're going to have to take up with the system
administrators at your company. I can't imagine that they'd be too pleased
if you found a way to modify the policy on your system.

Perhaps they have a good reason for not allowing their PCs to automatically
update. Just talk to them about it, and see what they advise.
