Enlightenment DR17

Posted: 12-07-2005, 04:27 AM
For anyone who might be interested in running Enlightenment DR17 on
Mandriva 2006 I have just built the latest rpms and they are now posted on
my http://seerofsouls.com website. You can add the E17 section as a
source to urpmi with the command posted on the site.

You can run the following command to get the basics of E17 installed:

urpmi e ecore evas esmart e_utils e_modules edb edje

There are other things you can install as well if you so desire. The
above will get you the basics to E17. Enough to get you started.

Plenty of info can be found at my http://linuxfordummies.org forum in the
E17 section and also at http://get-e.org

If anyone has any problems/questions/comments please let me know or post
to my forum and I'll respond.

Hawk, just as Another Useful Tip From Experienced Usenet Denizens -
<lol> - if you want to post something to both /alt.os.linux.mandriva/
and /alt.os.linux.mandrake,/ then just include both groups in the group
address field of /Pan's/ composer and send it off only once.

This is called /cross-posting/ and it will not only make your post
appear on both groups at the same time, but it will also allow the
newsreaders of those of us who are monitoring both groups to
automatically skip your post in the second group when we've already
read it in the first. ;-)

The approach you have chosen a few times now - i.e. posting the same
message to multiple groups separately - is called /multi-posting/ and
is typically not appreciated on Usenet because newsreaders cannot keep
track of multi-posted messages and will show each message as a new one
for each group. ;-)

Just thought I'd let you know... You're doing great so far! ;-)

I forgot to mention that you should of course use a semi-colon as the
group separator, e.g.:

alt.os.linux.mandrake;alt.os.linux.mandriva

Just downloaded the rpms from SoS yesterday. Enlightenment looks great
although I have to play around with the menues to get it usable. Thanks
Hawk for your help and especially the Bash scripts section. I was thinking
of leaving Mandriva for FC4, but with the tools you and other have made
available, Mandriva is still the easiest linux for a business major like
me to use.
