entering bios screen

Posted: 10-16-2007, 05:48 PM
I just built my new computer gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R mother board, IntelE6850
CPU, 4gigs OCZ 2G8002GK memory, 2 Western Digital 74 gig Raptor hard drives,
Microsoft wireless desktop 6000 keyboard and mouse, Vista Ultimate. My
problem is that at boot up I can't get to the bios screen. It seems like my
keyboard dosen't work until I get to the password screen on windows. Can
someone please help me. Thank you

Connect up an old style PS/2 keyboard to do this.

It's likely that legacy USB support is not enabled, you'll need to use a PS2
keyboard to access BIOS for the first time, and set legacy USB to enabled,
then your USB keyboard should work.

Thank you all for your help, I'll have to buy an old style keyboard to set it
up

Hi:
Also check that the F-Lock key has been pressed (a green light will turn on
on the oval wireless receiver).
This enables the top row of function keys to work as such, otherwise they
are use of "other" tasks.
I have your same desktop combo (wireless 6000) and use it always with the
F-Lock key enabled.
That way when I press F1 for help it brings up Help, as it should.
I don't know what is the hot key for accessing your BIOS during boot, but if
it is a function key, there you have the problem.
The other reason could be the USB legacy (or USB keyboard) support not being
enabled in BIOS, in which case you do need an old PS/2 (borrow one) for doing
it once.
