Epson CX6600 printing problems...

I just received an Epson CX6600 printer from Epson to replace my old CX5400
due to printer issues under warranty. I installed the new printer and found
while it prints text files just fine when I print a picture using various
photo software packages it only prints half the page then gives me a
communications error message to check the USB cable. I've tried another USB
cable, USB port, uninstall printer drivers, reinstalled NEW printer drivers
straight from Epson's web site to no avail.
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
