I have an Epson C61 printer running off an Accton CheetahAccess AC--IG1004
gateway router/print server. The instructions say to use the IP address
192.168.2.1, queue name LPT1 as a "Standard TCP/IP printer". All has been
working very well for many months. I have it set up on Windows XP Home.
I upgraded to SP2. Somewhere along the line, it has become impossible to
print documents using this setup. I don't know whether it dates back to
installing SP2.
I am still able to use this setup as and Administrator, but it doesn't work
as an unpriviledged user. I'd like to keep things this way to prevent virus
infections and to prevent unauthorised installations.
If I go into the Event Viewer I see an error beside the print job thus:
The description for Event ID ( 6161 ) in Source ( Print ) cannot be found.
The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or
message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be
able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and
Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
TEST_DOCUMENT.txt, robert, EPSON Stylus C61 Series, NT EMF 1.008, 9212, 0,
1, 0, \\ATHLON, 5 (0x5), .
I've tried reinstalling the print driver several times (including a newer
version), but still get this error.
Can anybody help??
