| I am trying to diagnose why my Vista computer cannot see a NAS device that all the XP computers on the network can see and access. When I do a 'net view \\NAS", I get an Error 2114 'The Server service is not started'. I checked the services; 'Server' service is running. I even restarted the service, but still no luck. (I did set the PC to allow NTLM - before doing that it used to give me Error 5 Access denied sometimes, and Error 2114 sometimes). Seven hours with Microsoft Tech Support did not get me anywhere, beyond standard checking of firewalls and settings, which all seem to be OK. So far have spent four days chasing this problem. If I cannot use my NAS, then I have to say bye to Vista (and the money I spent on it). Note: The Vista machine cannot 'see' my other XP computers in 'NETWORK' window; but it can connect if I enter the address in the address bar (\\computername). Any help will be much appreciated. | Guest
