Is this a network or CD install? BTW, Vista RC2 is not ready yet, do you
mean Beta 2?

I get the same message too. About 15% of the way into copying files, I
receive that error message. The ISO was burned at 2.5x and the MD5 code is
what it should be - I checked.

I'm trying to install to a large, clean partition. Any ideas about getting
past this error?

I had a similar issue on a re-install -- wiped a physical drive clean and
formated/partioned NTFS with a 3rd party program and got the same error as
you on VISTA install. Then I restarted the VISTA install, and when I goy to
the "install on drive" screen, I deleted the partitions and let the VISTA
install program format and partition -- all went well after that. The only
problem is that I don't know why the 3rd party NTFS format/partion was a
problem!

Does your 3rd party partioning prog do anything with the MBR?

I had XP Mediacenter, ran the install from XP MC and had no
problem. The system sits in another room so about once and hour I
checked to see how it was doing, there was no error msg nor BSOD.
Took a long time to expand the files, just had to be patient.
I've seen some people that had to disconnect USB devices but I
even kept my ext. hd going and had no problems. I don't think I
did anything smarter, I just lucked out and had a system that
came configured right for Vista. I think if people took their
time, run the system upgrade advisor, read the warnings, and be
ready to try different configurations they might get Vista
running.

Key to all of it - make sure you have a way to restore Win 98, XP
or whatever OS they have!! DO not try to install to an external
HD. Make sure you burn the a bootable DVD. Just little things
that can bite you in the backside.
