says the files are corrupt and I have downloaded and burned the files iso
images to a dvd I ended up using like 7 Dvd's but it still says the same
thing and I don't even get the option to upgrade. Any help would be great

Hello

I also had multiple failures with install using the DVD I burned, ended up
formating an PATA drive (could not get Via drivers to work for my SATA)
installed XP Pro SP2 on the drive updated it via windows update (did not
install any programs) then copied the Vista Install DVD to a folder on the XP
disk and installed it from XP using the folder copy of the install disk.

went in like a charm,

I was very frustrated as the DVD was checksumed ok and just stopped
installing for some reason.

very cumbersome way to install, BUT the key is it installed and is working
well

my "bi*ch" is that UAC is unweldy and makes my MS Outlook 2007 Beta not able
to use hyperlinks or update from the help menu. I am using administrator
privileges and still cannot get away from the

" The operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Pleas contact your system administrator"

WHAT RESTRICTIONS, WOW

Good luck on your installs

Error installing vista
Posted: 02-22-2007, 09:11 PM
Hi

I am installing vista on my secondary SATA drive. The primary IDE drive
already has two partitions of xp. The update advisor advised to go for vista
business but I went for ultimate anyway. The problem is that the setup gets
cancelled with error 'Windows could not set the offline locale information.
Error code 0x80FE0000'. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks

Regards

dear john,
As I think, you have posted in Technet also, have you read that ?
Is your BIOS battery OK? Does your date resets with Reboot ?
So while installing Vista and during installation it reboots, thus may be
having this error. So maybe old battery causing this problem??
Try the install with new battery.

thanks

I get the error message "BIOS checksum error---defaults loaded" after the
computer has been switched off. Using `restart` after the BIOS has been reset
manually and the problem does not happen. Is this a flat CMOS battery?

Try removing all USB devices. If you have a USB keyboard and your PC still
supports PS/2 keyboards then also remove the USB keyboard and use a PS2 then
try re-installing once all USB devices have been removed.

Hi John,
have unplugged all USB devices and plugged in PS/2 keyboard and mouse, but
still cannot get past the blue screen and the error message ***STOP:
0x0000005c (0x000001B,0x00000003,0x00000000,0x00000000), which comes after
the Post, then checks the CD drives and goes straight into the blues screen
and error.

Using a Rack and tray I can still, after putting the Winxp drive in, boot ok
to WinXp, and have put the Vista drive into a caddy, so I can access the
drive and contents, but just won't boot up to Vista when only the Vista Hdd
with the OS on it

Would it help if I formatted the drive and reinstalled Vista again
Thanks for you help
Regards
Bob
