Error message "disk full"

Posted: 10-28-2003, 02:50 AM
I continually get this message (Error message "disk
full") when adding files to my computer, whether from the
net, from the scanner, etc. The system shows 37gb total,
over 33gb available yet I still get the message.
When I was configuring the new hard drive, I attempted to
set up a partition, and when I was prompted to set a size
for the partition, I accidently chose the default, which
was the entire amount available. I dont know if this is
causing the problem but it's driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!
If thatis the problem, how do I fix it?

Go into My Computer.

What drives are listed under hard disk drives ?
How much space is available on each, particularly the one containing Windows
xp.

Your scanner software is probably configurable to specify a default folder,
its probably defaulting to your My Pictures folder which is on the xp disk
drive.

Similarly if you are downloading files from the internet, this is probably
defaulting to storing the file on the windows xp drive aswell.

Paul

Thanks for the thoughts. Here is the exact error message
I get when trying to save. "The Web page could not be
saved to the selected location." And when using a scanned
image a disk full error is given. I have a very empty 40
gig disk that XP was installed on. There are no other
partitions to my knowledge(they would show up right?)on
this machine. If you have any more imput, your thoughts
are highly apprectiated.

So to be clear, you only have 1 hard disk drive in this system, which is
40GB in size.?

You say you only have 1 partion. As I asked in the previous post, what is
reported in My Computer under hard disk drives.

Go into My Computer
Look Under the Hard Disk Drives Section

Does it show just 1 drive, probably C: ?
What figures are reported under the Total Size and Free Space Columns ?
