Error message trying to install Windows Script 5.6 on XP

I have a pent4, 1.6ghz, geforce3, winXP computer and I
recnetly installed all the updates (9/18/03), but have
come across an error while going to Yahoo! chat page. I
sent the error to microsoft via error reporting message
box that directed me to the MSDN site where the 'answer'
to my problem was supposed to be. I downloaded the
windows script 5.6 for win2000 (/winXP) version &
executed it. It went thorugh the disclaimer and then
started to copy but stopped at "copying jscript.dll to
c:\windows\system32" and froze for a minute then stopped
& did nothing for a minute and then a message box came up
that stated "INF install failure. Reason: The I/O command
has been aborted due to a thread exit or application
request". I tried again with no running applications to
no avail also. I even went into the safe mode command
prompt via restart and tried but the same message came
up. What am I doing wrong or rather what is going on that
it insists on not installing?!?
