Default Error TCP/IP Network Transport Not Installed

I hadn't accessed the internet in a few days, so I don't
know if this started appearing after downloading MS
updates and installing, or if it happened as a result of a
couple of storms that shut down my pc (I am using a surge
protector).

When I reboot and log onto my home pc, I get the error
TCP/IP Network Transport not installed (or something
really close to that). Everything else works fine, I just
can't connect to the Internet using my Cable modem. I've
searched the knowledge base for this error and I can't
find anything.

I tried some of the suggestions located in the Help
functions, regarding the IP address. I get an error
because it won't update the IP address. One of the logs
shows an error that the IP address was already in use and
it tried to get a new one, but has failed ever since.

Any help would be appreciated.

1. make sure you have loaded tcp/ip and enabled client for ms network.
2. Run anti-virus and make sure no virus.
3. Re-apply sp1.
4. If still get the same problem, post the result of ipconfig /all here.
