Every time I start Word got message: Security Warrning...

Posted: 01-04-2004, 06:30 PM
XP Home: Word:

Security Warning
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart Tag\FDATE.DLL
contains macros by
Microsoft Corporation

I changed ( in the Word) Tools Options Security level to Medium (or Low)
then OK, window close. Open the macro Security window again and it is
magically back to High! Why please?

Next, which may be better overall solution is to somehow disable Word to
look in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\FDATE.DLL at start up. This will be best solution leaving security level
to High, but how to do that please?

Will renaming C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\FDATE.DLL to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Smart
Tag\OLDFDATE.DLL help? I did not test that before answer from MVP.

Thanks, Dusko

Suggest you repost in a Word or Office group. Just because you're running an
application under XP, doesn't make this the correct place to post. You
should always post in a group associated with the /application/, *not* the
operating system.
