Excluding disks from power management

When power options are enabled, say power down hard disk after 3 mins, is it
possible to exclude some disks from this option?
There may be a registry value to do that?

Bye

Nope - powering down HDs is all or nothing under XP and W9x. There used
to be third-party utilities to power down individual HDs under W3.1, but
I don't recall any for more current flavors of WinWhatever.

Powering down after a mere 3 mins is rather typical for a laptop running
on batteries, but that seems pretty short for anything but saving battery
power; for non-battery operation, I'd suggest something like 30 or 45
mins -- just enough to ensure that the HDs sleep at night, while only
causing one cold startup per day.
