exe app error

WMP.exe applications error: The instruction at '0x77f596b5' referenced memory at '0xfffffff8'. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate this program. Of course at that point I lose WMP. Any suggestions out there???

Reinstall WMP over top of itself, you may have a corrupted file or a bad spo
on your disk. Before you do that, run CHKDSK to check your disk for errors.

This is Windows XP? WMP.exe/mp71.exe is the installer for WMP 7.1. WMP.exe
is not a valid file or application you should be running in Windows XP.
